Charlie Feathers, Johnny Burnette, Joe Clay, Lew Williams, Johnny
Carroll and Jack Earls. Matt has been DJ'ing around Detroit for
the past couple of years as half of DJ Hot Rod Gang and has played
guitar and sang in a few local acts. A long time avid fan of rockabilly
and 1950's rock n' roll, Matt belts out the vocals with that wild
traditional hillbilly sound and adds a driving rhythm guitar to
the Hi-Q's.
Paul "Smokey" Cook:
Originally from Jackson, MI, Paul 'Smokey Links'
Cook started playing guitar professionally at the tender young age
of 14 in a country band....and got paid with a chicken dinner!!!
Smokey's been lighting the strings on fire with Detroit rockabilly
acts for almost 10 years now including the Missing Links, the Big
Barn Combo (Founder), Rumble and Tilt-a-whirl and is a current member
of Jack Earls & the Jimbos. His guitar playing has been described
as 'tough sounding' and has certainly helped to drive many a rockabilly
fan into a frenzy. With the Hi-Q's, Smokey continues to add his
great wild traditional sound of rockabilly and 1950's rock n roll
Rudy Varner:
A native of Flint, Michigan, Rudy Varner started
playing rockabilly on the upright bass in the early 1990's. His
smooth style, flawless timing and professional chops have added
that traditional upright sound to several Detroit rockabilly bands
including the Starlight Drifters. Rudy is also a current member
of Jack Scott & the Top Ranks and Jack Earls & the Jimbos
Loney Charles:
Mr. Loneeeeeey Charles!!! Also a Flint native,
Loney has been a staple drummer in the Detroit rockabilly scene
since the early/mid-90's. Known for his willingness to play anytime,
anywhere, Loney is a former member of the Big Barn Combo as well
