The Lazy Jumpers

Ain't nothing lazy about this rockin' jump blues band from Barcelona (Spain) born in 2002. Highly influenced by afroamerican music of the 40's and 50's (T-Bone Walker, Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter & Tiny Bradshaw among others) they write and play their own material as they have already shown in clubs and big festivals all around Europe making themselves a name and good reputation in the Blues and Rhythm Blues scene.

The first release from 2003; Somebody Tell That Woman (El Toro Records) got great reviews being acclaimed by the specialized magazines around as the best new group. They play a fine mixture of West Coast to Chicago to Rock 'n' Roll leaded by Blas Picón on Little Walter style chromatic harmonica and deep voice at Big Joe Turner's style.
**First rate rockin' Rhythm & Blues! This quartet from Spain is fast gaining a reputation as the hottest new roots blues band in Europe… GMB ( Blue Suede News #64 USA).
**This is the best new group I´ve heard since France´s Bo Weavil… Pete Bowen ( Now Dig This Magacine #246 UK).
In 1995 the band is ready for their second release Bad Luck (Turn My Back On You); made of 13 original tracks.

EL TORO R&B 204 - COMIN’ ON LIKE GANGBUSTERS

All the years of experience the band’s accumulated since its first album in 2003 have produced this, their finest record yet. After years of non- stop touring all over Europe – and occasionally the USA –
building up a solid fan base, they finally shut themselves in the studio in 2006 and emerged with “Comin’ on Like Gangbusters”, another leap forward in their musical career.
13 self-penned compositions , divided between Blas Picón and Mario Cobo: Jump Swingin’ West Coast Blues Lazy Jumpers style. It’s taking nothing away from the guys’ impressive instrumental skills to
say that these recordings are more about songs than virtuosity. The new addition of David García on drums has really nailed down that backbeat, creating a perfect partnership with Barcelona’s own
undisputed king of the stand-up bass, Mr. Ivan Kovacevic. Mario Cobo on guitar just keeps evolving, taking that instrument only he knows where, and Blas Picón blows the harp and shouts and croons the
blues like he’s never done before. It’s common sense versus histrionics. Taste versus exhibitionism. The Lazy Jumpers give an object lesson in honesty every time and every way they play music, whether it’s covers or their own stuff. It’s the honesty of people doing something for themselves, the way they like it, because they like it.
Blues, Rhythm & Blues, Swing and Boogie are the basic ingredients of this Barcelona band’s set. Traditional ingredients mixed together into a fresh, original sound which combines with their onstage energy to give a whole new meaning to the phrase “Live Music”. The band is Blas Picón (lead vocals and harmonica), Mario Cobo(guitar and vocals), Ivan Kovacevic (stand-up bass) and Davis García (drums). They’ve gigged in Spain a and the rest of Europe, a few festivals in the USA, and they’re now regulars on the UK blues circuit. Their new CD “Comin’ on like Gangbusters” follows their previous
ones “Somebody tell that woman” (2003) and “Bad Luck” (2005) - all available on Toro Records.
