With their second cd, Mexico’s Lost
Acapulco get to a perfect balance between classic surf and fiesta.
They forget the trash vocal playing that appeared in the first record
and jump into a rush of instrumentals and high class reverb-drenched
guitars that push the band to a leading place in the pack of contemporary
instrumental rock bands. Of course, they still believe that this genre
can stand whatever level of energy demanded. In “Acapulco golden”
we find from cristal melodies with guitars that drive you lost in
paradise (the masterpiece “Acapulco golden” or “Roqueta
to the moon”, that cames with final surprise) to beach sensations,
good life and garage spirit (“Misión Malvarosa”
or “Gambas y birras”). They have improved a lot their
musician skills and their non-discussed leadership among the sparky
Mexican instro scene is not for free. Add to this a Misfits’
cover, instrumental of course, and a composition from Danny “Straitjacket”
Amis and you will have the take-off recording from a band who soon
will be claiming for Los Straitjackets’ title of best instro
band in the world. |
