Jed Clayton & The Rockabouts

Jed Clayton writes:
Just a question of enjoying music with your body and soul
Just the other day I had a coffee with a friend of mine. As usual we spoke about the main topics in a man´s life.with other words: women, classic cars, liquer and last.music. We sat there and discussed the importance of music and figured what a drag things would be without this perceptional, amazing phenomenon, all just based on a beat.called music! It simply gives a meaning to life, helps you
to get into trouble as well as out of it.or let´s think of it as the core of all existential belief As so many times before we finally came to the part of the subject when you ask yourself why so many people obviously don´t really care or give a damn about what kind of music they listen to, or; how come that real rock´n´roll has become such a minor part of the cultural scene!?. You can hear people say: Well I dig music.I´m a real musicfan, I listen to the music they play on the radio. Why the heck don´t they straighten up and get themselves some hot wax with some rhytm & blues, doo-wop, pure ol´rustic rockabilly or why not true rock´n´roll!? Sometimes things simply don´t get any better than the
fundamental stuff built on the original ideas. When I play some of this to friends of mine, who have not experienced the rock phenomenon, they always end up with smiles on their faces asking; now what is this !? What a beat!!!Where do you get these records?

Now this is the part that really pisses me off! Let´s ask ourselves the simple question: What kind of music do the radiostations really play!? 95% if not more of the stuff that they broadcast, sounds like a noise inferno or a totally mainstream thing, without a sign of any soul or any musical concept. Nowadays the musicindustry is really controlling radiostations, and have the power to promote whatever crap they have decided that is going to sell. And as always they are able to pull off the whole deal just because people are so mixed up and just buy or listen to whatever is being served. Ok ..allright , that´s the way it has always worked.they had the Payolacandal in the states during the rock´n´roll era as well.you probably think that the kid won´t be able to sort this out.history simply repeats itself. Well. I´m
not sayin´that people lack a sense of taste just because they don´t dig the same stuff as I do. just askin´ myself if it is to much to ask that people try to understand that there´s lots of music with a potential far beyond the ordinary music played on everyday radio.

Due to my opininon it´s all just a question of being a critical, but a creative listener. If you really try to get into the music, understand it , taste it like a good old wine, you will be able to see and feel that the
substance of music itself, it will give you the feeling of enlightenment and take you wherever you want to go.music is probably the closest you´ll ever get to real magic.
So friends and listeners.hope you´ll enjoy our attempt to create something a little bit different.something that will thrill you a little bit, shake you a little bit, perhaps even make you feel glad to be around.
Rock´n´roll is such a wonderful thing, so don´t forget to share it with your beloved and friends!!!

Hope to see you out there!

Best regards

Jed Clayton

Hello there music lovers!
I won´t start nagging about modern music this time, since this will probably only be read by people with a feeling for genuine rhythm anyway.
Since I reconstructed the band in the late autumn of 2000, there has been a lot of changes both in the line up and choice of music styles and influences once more! I guess its just meant that way never being
sure of where you end up. Fate finally always seem to catch up with you, huh!? .and there´s hardly anything you can do about it. Still I´ve had the opportunity to work with some of the best musicians
and friends I´ve ever met.

The theme behind Jed Clayton & the Rockabouts now seems to have transformed from being all about a basic "good ol´rockabilly band" into a multi variety ensemble with more wild ideas and achievements than there are hours in a day. The last recording sessions and moments of studio work always seem to turn out somewhat of a game of improvising and experimenting with all kinds of stuff. I think we managed to mix
styles like primitive ragtime with some western swing, of course basic country, true blue r-a-billy and a fragrance of r&b and do-wop!? You be the judge.

Is there any need to say that we found ourselves having an incredibly good time doing this!? The future might bring just anything so we´ll probably just go on and see what happens as I said; It all seems
to have become part of the Jed Clayton & the Rockabouts project, never knowing what comes next or where we will end up next time...

Hope to see you around and that you appreciate our efforts on this piece of work.
Cruise on!
