Los Plank-Tones practican un surf instrumental
desde que la banda se formara en 1984 en Gendale, California. Este
es su primer album basado en lo que ellos llaman surf-blue tunes.
The Fabulous Planktones play the indigenous surf and instrumental
sounds of their native Southern California. The band is primarily
based in Glendale and was originally formed in 1984 by brothers Marty,
Jim and Kevin Tippens on guitars and bass along with drummer Art Chianello.
Jon Green joined on bass and guitar in '98 while Kevin attended to
his new family commitments.
Over the years, they have appeared on several
surf music compilation CD's including Fiberglass Jungle, That's
New Pussycat (a tribute to Burt Bacharach) and Better than Average
Weekend. They can most often be found performing at various So Cal
beach venues including the renowned Huntington Beach International
Surfing Museum, Rusty's Surf Ranch, and Long Beach's Foothill Club.
Currently they are most excited to present their
first full length El Toro Records release entitled "Surfin'at
the Sinbad". The title refers to the nickname of a converted
motel that is now a studio where they rehearse and record in Hollywood
California. The music is largely original comprising fourteen of
their best old, new, borrowed and rockin' surf-blue tunes. |
