Cold Finland is one of the European countries that have got on best with rockabilly since the continental revival of the 70s.
The powerful scene that has developed there since then, has produced a multitude of good bands, but if I had to choose the perfect example of that, my choice would undoubtedly be The Barnshakers, a four pieces band that has been going on since the end of the 80s, being well known on the rockabilly worldwide scene both for their magnificent performances and for the large number of LPs in their discography. Vesa Haaja is their singer, a guy with a deep and elegant voice, who undoubtedly brings his trademark to the band. It was inevitable that, sooner or later, Vesa would join his vocal power to the good work of Carlos Slap, in his series of singles with luxury guests.
In this 7" you will find top glamour in two different ways, Vesa's performance and Carlos' compositions, with his usual bunch of musicians backing the project as it deserves.
IT IS TRUE? occupies side A, a song with western swing influences and a certain pop pinch, becoming a perfect jiver that should have no problems to heat up the dancefloor.
WHO'S GONNA... on side B offers us the perfect counterpoint, a melody in minor keys, a bit of gypsy jazz, some country & western influences... a true delight!
Yes folks, again a new winner!
SIDE A – Was It True?
SIDE B – Who Gonna…
