I saw Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orquestra for the first time on stage few months ago, and their performance was one of the most I liked lately. These guys from Newcastle mix a lot of influences, swing, rhythm & blues, country & western, rockabilly... but far from being a roots music exercise in style, they are the real deal! I believed what I was listening!
What a surprise when my friend Carlos Slap told me that the next artist with whom he would release his new reference, in his acclaimed 7” series, would be Rob Heron himself!
As it couldn't be any other way, Carlos and Rob match perfectly, offering two winning tracks, in which the dial moves from the western swing, with hints of gypsy jazz, of ROAD TO NOWHERE to the big party full of rumbustious latin swing that they throw on JIMMY WEED. Last but not least, both songs are magnificently backed by the usual musicians in last Carlos Slap's projects.
Don't pass up this slice of vinyl, it's good fodder for your jukebox!
