ET-15.050 - RAY CAMPI
2 Play It Cool
1 It Ain't Me
2 Give That Love To Me
Born in New York and raised in Texas, Ramblin' Ray has recently swapped his cowboy boots for penny loafers and ebraced the rock 'n' roll phenomenon with clEver, but typically zany songs for the T'N'T and Dot labels.
We predict that this young man will be a hero of the hep crowd for a very long time...so long as rock 'n' roll is here to stay as the song suggests!
ET-15.053 - DON WOODY
1 You're Barking Up The Wrong Tree
1 Not I
2 Red Blooded American Boy
Former Missouri disc jockey, Don Woody teamed up with a friend to write a dozen rock 'n' roll songs to pitch to the record companies. One was picked up by Little Brenda Lee and opened a door for Don with Decca Records.
Don's clever way with words is evident on the recordings of "Bird-Dog" and "Barking Up the Wrong Tree" cut at Decca, while his more recent coupling on Arco should consolidate his elevated position with the hep set.
ET-15.054 - ROY MOSS
1 You're My Big Baby Now
2 You Nearly Lose Your Mind
1 You Don't Know My Mind
2 Corrine Corrina
Protégé of the great Jimmy Skinner, Arkansas-born Roy Moss befriended young Elvis Presley who managed to get him an audition for the popular Louisiana Hay Ride radio show.
The Skinner connection scored a recording contract for Roy with the Mercury people in 1955 and his resulting brace of singles, recorded in Nashville with Music City's finest, has certainly impressed the rockabilly crowd.
ET-15.055 - JACKIE LEE COCHRAN
1 Riverside Jump
2 Hip Shakin' Mama
1 Mama Don't You Think I Know
2 Ruby Pearl
At the tender age of 14, little Jackie Lee Cochran was invited to sing on stage with his idol Hank Snow, but it was a performer much further down the bill that day that inspired Jack to make music his career and as these discs show, recorded in Californias for the Sims and Decca companies, Jack is managing to acurately channel the Presley spirit and style.
ET-15.056 - HAYDEN THOMPSON
1 Fairlane Rock
2 Mama, Mama, Mama
1 Rockabilly Gal
2 Love My Baby (alternative take)
Like Elvis, Hayden Thompson - "The South's Most Versatile SInger" - was born in North-Eastern Mississippi but was discovered in Memphis, Tennessee, by Sam Phillips, who quickly signed him to the Sun company.
The tracks on side one of this EP are Hayden's own compositions while, on the flip, he tackles songs made famous by Jonathan Craig and Little Junior Parker, respectively.
