Thirty years of releasing records, and somehow we’d never made a Christmas record! Before 2026 draws to a close, we thought there was no better way to round off El Toro Records’ 30th anniversary year than with the very first Christmas release in our history.
For this special occasion, we’ve brought together two bands from opposite sides of the Atlantic for a festive split single with a classic country spirit.
From Denmark, Johnny Horsepower bring us “Folsom Xmas”. This trio have spent years touring Europe with a sound rooted in the early recordings of Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two. Vocals, guitars and upright bass capture that unmistakable 1950s spirit, bringing their distinctive personality to our first Christmas outing.
On the other side, we head to Ontario, Canada, where The Plowboys deliver “Pawnshop Christmas”. With their rhinestone suits and signature steel guitar, this five-piece keep the honky-tonk and classic country tradition alive, drawing inspiration from Buck Owens, Ray Price and Merle Haggard. The perfect partners for our anniversary Christmas celebration. Two bands, two songs, and our first Christmas on wax in thirty years!
